  • The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern + my favorite silk pants
    A fantastical fairy tale about, yes, a circus, in which the three colors play an important role.
    Read this if you want red, white, and black to represent: love, glamour, drama.
     
  • The Orphan Master’s Son by Adam Johnson + an old silk sheath I’ll never give away
    One of the best books of 2012 so far, a deeply researched epic about one man’s extraordinary life in North Korea (my full review here).
    Read this if you want red, white, and black to represent: passion, risk, communism, and fortitude.
